Subjective Course of Polish Literature
The aim of the project is to present selected Polish authors writing in the last century to residents of Poland coming from different countries and cultures. We believe that literature is an excellent tool for integrating and building relationships between people coming from various countries, and that’s why we decided to present six iconic figures from the Polish history of literature, and at the same time to show, how other cultures and languages influenced their work.
The selection of writers is obviously subjective, but they all have at least one thing in common – they not only shaped the 20th and 21st century literature in Poland, but they also strongly influenced literature around the world, and their works are still valid, read and commented upon.
We invite you to watch six lectures prepared by experts focusing on the oeuvre of particular authors:
Lecture by Piotr Sitkiewicz, editor and literary scholar, focusing on the work of Bruno Schulz
Lecture by Klementyna Suchanow, writer, editor, author of an extensive biography of Witold Gombrowicz
Lecture by Wojciech Orliński, journalist, writer and columnist, specialist in the life and work of Stanisław Lem
Lecture by Michał Rusinek, literary scholar, writer and translator, long-time secretary of Wisława Szymborska
Lecture by Alina Świeściak, literary scholar, professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice on the work of Tadeusz Różewicz
