Books from Home

Over one million Ukrainian children have arrived in Poland since the war broke out. Taken from homes and families, schools and friends, they desperately need our support. In Wrocław Literature House we know well that children are attached to rituals, especially reading. So we want to give them back the books they know and love. Help us to do that!

Article title “Books from Home”

Since the attack of the Russian on Ukraine the life of the country’s residents becomes more dramatic every day. Millions have fled in search of safety and shelter, leaving their lives behind, mostly women and children of all ages. Wrocław Literature House is now diagnosing the needs of Ukrainian children arriving to Poland in order to find the best books for them, ones they love and remember from home. Then, we will print them in Ukrainian and distribute for free among refugees throughout Poland. We want to publish at least 8 titles, mostly classic fairy tales and awarded illustrated books. In this way, we will also support Ukrainian publishers and authors during those difficult times when the publishing market cannot function normally.

What we need the funds for?

  • Acquiring licences for Ukrainian children’s books from publishers & authors
  • Printing the books in Poland
  • Distribution
